3 pacifiers if used
Diapers enough for at least a week
1 package of baby wipes on the first of each month
Your choice of diaper cream if needed
Formula or Brest milk enough for the week, please.
Smelly Blanket Wanted
Most helpful is to bring a small blanket, that you slept with so it smells like you. I do not need it for the blanket, I need something to comfort the baby that smells like you to help them adjust to the new surroundings
How to help your baby prepare for Cindy’s Kids
Be kind to your baby, You are leaving them in childcare, and allow them to sleep on their back with no blankets at home also. Use a Sleep sack for SID protection. Don’t give them a bottle in bed to soothe them. Snuggle them, but allow them to sleep by themself, Remember you will not be here all day to nap with them. At Cindy’s Kids, we will follow the rules and laws of Oregon’s best practices. So please help make this transition pleasant for your precious baby. If breastfeeding please make sure your baby will take a bottle,
When Preparing Formula
Wash hands
Cindy’s Kids will use clean dry bottles, which have been rinsed and washed in the dishwasher. Nipples and rings need to be separated and put on the top shelf. Or if the dishwasher is not available:
Wash in warm soapy water
Rinse in clean water
Soak in bleach solution 50 to 100 for 2 minutes.
Bottles are stored in a sanitary manner until use, each part separated
I fill the desired amount of warm water in first to the proper line from the kitchen sink
I then add one scoop of formula for each 2 ounces of water. As directed on the package.
Close and shake until mixed
Check for temperature on the inside arm before feeding baby in arms
I do not prop bottles, this is a time to interact with the baby
Babies are never allowed to lie down with a bottle.
They must be held upright
At 1 year babies are encouraged to use sippy cups independently
I am on city water, if parents want bottled water they must provide it.
If mom brings breast milk it is labeled and stored cold, warmed in Advent warmer when needed.
Milk is not reused once heated. CDC says milk should be finished within 2 hours or trashed
If a parent brings prepared bottles from home that look questionably, Cindy’s Kids will remake bottles to serve the baby.
Only formula or breastmilk will be served in bottles to babies under 1
Infant cereal will not be added to bottles.
Please hand breast milk to the providers to refrigerate or freeze ASAP
Sleeping area
Each infant shall have a portable crib, with a clean, non-absorbent mattress that meets the federal requirements
The locks and latches of the crib are safe and secure, I have backup cribs if one gets damaged
Each mattress shall fit snugly with a clean sheet daily.
Sleeping arrangements shall be appropriate to the cultural background of the infant
Diaper-changing area
Located between the nursery and the children's bathroom. Making both areas visible to supervise. Handwashing for both child and staff can occur immediately after diapering without contact with other surfaces or children. We have an extra portable diaper station, A changing area is on the back porch area, with hot and cold running water next to it for handwashing. Both areas are equipped with sanitizer, gloves, plastic bags, ointments, and clean labeled diapers for each child.
Diapers are disposed of in a plastic bag. Dirty clothes are bagged and put in a cubby for parents to wash. Cindy’s Kids will not wash children's clothes.
A bathtub is available for bathing children
High chair use
Cindy's kids does use high chairs for feeding the children either with the tray on or at the table like a buster. As children get older chairs can be lowered for the child to climb in by themselves. A broad base to prevent tipping, A latch to keep a child from raising the tray safety Straps to prevent a child from sliding out and a nice crotch piece to keep them in place. Our Fisher Price high chair meets the US Consumer Product Safety Commission or equivalent standards.
Baby Activities
The use of baby equipment shall not substitute for providing a variety of stimulating experiences. We have several infant jumpers to use for short periods for an infant who can hold themself up. We have a portable swing, and a big baby play yard large enough for an adult to join them on a nice thick mat. I have climbing toys of different materials for them to climb and explore safely.
We do not use any walkers.
We do not use potty chairs, when the child shows interest we use the regular toilet that has a smaller seat on it.
Cindy’s Kids plan for the Infant and toddler activities.
Infants shall be allowed to form and follow their patterns of sleeping and waking periods. As they reach 1 year I try to start adjusting them to one nap instead of two.
Infants shall be given opportunities during each day to move freely on their tummy by creeping and crawling in a safe, clean, warm, and uncluttered area.
Throughout the day, each infant and toddler shall be, held, rocked, talked to, sung to, and taken on adventures inside and outside the home.
The fresh air is good for them
Cindy’s Kids will have routines for eating, napping, diapering, and toileting, with the flexibility to respond to the needs of each child. Often the infants are up and getting special time while older ones nap
At Cindy’s Kids, we have multiples of appropriate infant toys stimulating the senses. Infants are encouraged to use their five senses through sensory play.
Immediate attention shall be given to the emotional and physical needs of the children.
No child shall be routinely left in a crib except for sleep or rest.
Cindy’s Kids shall encourage the development of self-help skills (dressing, toileting, washing, eating) as children are ready. As the child gets older they are encouraged to explore the world of activities encouraging creative expression through the art. Physical running, climbing, and other vigorous physical activities are important to growth and development.
Safe sleep practices
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) To reduce the risk of SIDS WE will do the following for Children under one year of age:
Infant will be placed to sleep on his or her back in a pack-and-play, unless the child’s physician authorizes another position in writing.
Each child has his own bed for the day. No sharing! At the end of each day, cribs and sheets are washed and sanitized and stored until the next use.
Infant will not sleep in a crib or playpen that contains materials such as sheepskins, pillows, fluffy blankets, bumper pads or stuffed animals.
If a baby falls asleep in a swing or high chair he will be moved and placed to sleep on his or her back in a pack-and-play quickly
Baby may use a pacifier without a leash to nap, no other objects in the bed
Baby may use an approved sleep sack in the bed.
Baby may not have cups or bottles in bed.
Car Seats
Upon arrival at Cindy’s Kids, Parents must remove the child from the car seats before leaving the child. This needs to happen even if the baby is sleeping. Parents must leave seats in the car not at childcare. Car seats are to be used for transportation only, Never during childcare.
Baby foods
Baby Food will be freshly homemade if possible. Commercially prepared and packaged food will be used on occasion. I ask parents to try the basic foods 2 or 3 times at home first to watch for reactions or allergies. After foods have been tried I will provide all of the foods the infant will need to complete a healthy USDA-approved meal for your little one.
